Steven S. Rosenthal
Steven S. Rosenthal received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Clark University in January 1975, graduating Magna Cum Laude and with an election to the Honorary Scholastic Society of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Hastings College of the Law in May, 1978, graduating in the top of his class and receiving academic honors for his scholastic efforts. He was admitted to the Bar of the State of California and to practice in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, in November 1978. He was admitted to practice and has been a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia, Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court since November, 1979 and April, 1984, respectively.
After graduation from Hastings, Mr. Rosenthal then commenced the development of his own law practice specializing in litigation with an emphasis in real estate and landlord-tenant law. However, the breadth of cases that the office handles is extensive and includes professional malpractice, plaintiff's class action, business and personal injury litigation. Mr. Rosenthal has litigated in nearly every Court in the Bay Area at the Municipal, Superior, Appellate, and Federal levels.
Mr. Rosenthal has received an “A.V.” rating by Martindale-Hubble, the highest rating awarded by this prestigious organization to indicate a “very high to preeminent” legal ability and very high ethical standards as established by confidential opinions from members of the bench and bar. He has been retained on a number of occasions in important litigation as special defense counsel by some of the nation’s largest and most well-known insurance carriers.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Rosenthal has been for many years both a member of the Board of Governors of the Lawyers Club of San Francisco and a Director of the Coalition of Better Housing, a non-profit association dedicated to the improvement of residential income property in the San Francisco area and the laws relating thereto. He has lectured and given seminars to various legal and real estate groups on issues of interest in real estate and litigation.
STEVEN R. RUTH
Steven R. Ruth received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983, a Masters of Philosophy degree in European and English History from the University of Oxford in 1985. In 1989, Mr. Ruth received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the UCLA Pacific Basin Law Journal. His practice areas have included environmental contamination, insurance coverage, and general civil litigation.
